Seeing Through Someone-else’s Eyes
Going for a walk, despite its physical distancing obstacles, can still be great. For me, it isn’t as great as going for a bike ride, but that isn’t a fair comparison. When the bike is really humming, you might appreciate … Continue reading

Trees at Night
It was a tough teaching day. It seemed to drag on forever and I was feeling pretty tired when I got on the bus to go home. It didn’t help that there was an accident somewhere up the road slowing … Continue reading

More Than Dew
As mornings go, I had no reason to think this one would be massively different than any other. I hit the snooze button an extra time, and felt a bit scrambly. My lunch wasn’t prepared and I feared that I … Continue reading

Where Are We Going?
My cycling club does an admirable job of maintaining their website. They even send out quite a bit of email about upcoming events. I don’t always pay attention to it all, but I did note that something special was going … Continue reading

Finding Perfection in a Darker Palette
I celebrated a beautiful Spring day yesterday. Today, the rain came pouring down for most of the day. I didn’t enjoy the walk to the bus stop and I my walk to work in the downpour was only made better … Continue reading

Unexpectedly Perfect
After we got back from cycling and the rush it gave me, I expected the rest of the day would be just okay. I was completely wrong on this front. Our guide offered his own personal tour. He said it … Continue reading

Respect
I write a lot about my students because they give me a lot of material to work with. As we finally embrace winter, the questions begin. Is February warmer than now? How long does winter last? Is Montreal warmer … Continue reading

Jealous Trees
Good things happened and a whole lot of blah happened this week. It’s been the kind of week when I felt I was drifting. Thing were great and things seemed empty. My bus rides to work have been interesting and … Continue reading

Nature Moots the Discussion
I witnessed a curious interaction between two of my students. The first said that winter wasn’t so bad. The second answered that it wasn’t the winter he had experienced the previous year. Both students are from warmer climates than this … Continue reading →
