A Timely Gift…..sort of
In the middle of teaching my phone rang. I had the ringer on silent and had no intention of answering it. I figured it was someone trying to sell me airduct cleaning. I did notice that it was a very … Continue reading

Proving that I am Lucky
In trying to think more positively, I have also adopted an “I am lucky” mantra/attitude. It is usually very easy to moan and complain that you are unlucky, or that you never win anything. I used to be one of … Continue reading

Connection Magic
I have a confession to make. I don’t use any transportation apps. I commute every work day without checking to see if the bus is coming. I expect it to come around the same time every day and leave my … Continue reading

Why I Go To the Library
One of my coworkers wondered why I kept getting books from the library. When I answered because they were free, she explained that her question was different. She meant why didn’t I borrow the books electronically? I could have waxed … Continue reading

8 Items or Less
Yesterday’s Perfect Moment is a rather simple one. However, it needs a little bit of context. I remember a comic strip called the Born Loser (created by Art Samson in 1965and now drawn by his son Chip)***. It wasn’t my … Continue reading

Ten Years Later
The ESL world in Toronto is somewhat of a small world. It’s either that or I’ve been doing it so long that I have cycled through all the people in the industry. I think I would rather stay with the … Continue reading

Unexpected Redemption
On this rain soaked, missed bus, unmotivated student kind of day the need for a Perfect Moment is keenly apparent. The whole purpose of the Perfect Moment is to rescue this rather blah day from itself. On the other hand, … Continue reading

Take Me Out to the Ballgame
Today’s Perfect Moment is the result of a late night text. As I write that, I realize you might get the wrong idea. An old friend, who I only get to see rarely invited me to the baseball game. It … Continue reading

Rain Rain Go Away….
I had several different options for Today’s Perfect Moment. One of my students was kind enough to make some sort of chocolate truffle treat. It provided a really nice pick me up in the morning. Also one of my colleagues … Continue reading
