….and Nothing

When you’ve got a “to do” list that is more like a “to do” book, and when you suspect that there might have to be a second volume to this book, then you’ve got two choices. You can either get … Continue reading

A Bit of Fresh Air

Last weekend, it looked like winter was a foregone conclusion. This past weekend, it looked like summer was mounting a comeback. The truth is that evidence of autumn is all around us. The colours are beautiful and they need to … Continue reading

September Morning

I’ve missed a few rides lately. Last weekend the temperature was 4 degrees. The other times coincided with something I either had to do or wanted to do. Keeping that in mind, and knowing that the temperature was changing quite … Continue reading

A Funny Story

And today we will barbecue.  When I type it like that, it sounds so momentous and profound, or at least as profound as grilling meat can be.  Though it really isn’t me, I have seen people take it to an … Continue reading

The Battle Begins Anew

Today marks the beginning of a battle that never truly ended.   Having finished my work duties….or most of them….or some of them, I was doing a little cleanup that required me to take the trash outside.  I took one look … Continue reading

Free Stuff! (Really)

So, Saturday had a lucky moment or two.  While it is small, I think every victory or reward is worth celebrating, reflecting on, and ultimately blogging about.  So here it is. I went to the hardware store to pick up … Continue reading

Underfoot

Rain only hastens the falling of the leaves from the trees. The drops of water strip the trees bare, leaving only bloody leaf pools. Grim though it may be, I instead think of the leaves as nature’s brilliant carpet underfoot.

Jealous Trees

Good things happened and a whole lot of blah happened this week. It’s been the kind of week when I felt I was drifting.  Thing were great and things seemed empty.  My bus rides to work have been interesting and … Continue reading

Ignoring Nature

Despite the obvious date reference and the usual debate with my father over just exactly when it started, I didn’t want to believe that Autumn had begun. Autumn is my favourite season (followed by Winter and then Spring), but I … Continue reading
