It’s been a pretty good weekend and I could probably pick a number of Perfect Moments from it. I will list a few hoping you can relate to a few of them before I explain the above picture.
I visited my mother and got to see her in good spirits and getting ready for Christmas. She’s got her tree up and has decorated for the season. She’s got lots of holiday movies to watch and seems caught up in the festive season.
My girlfriend and I went for coffee and doughnuts. This is not a typical indulgence for us, but did bring back memories of stopping on the way home after work. Since Covid, this really hasn’t been a thing and it was nice to remember it. The only bad thing is that we ate too many doughnuts.
I introduced my girlfriend to the world of Bill Bryson through the movie A Walk in the Woods. She loves Robert Redford, so this was an interesting way to go about it. He did a good job of capturing the wit of writer really quite well. She didn’t last the whole movie, but she laughed through the parts she was awake for.
While entering the supermarket, I used the hand sanitizer they provided. It was quite stingy and the aroma was rather unique. It was quite strong and now hours and multiple handwashings later, I can still smell it. If you’re wondering how that could possibly be considered a Perfect Moment, I can see how you could be confused. Actually the Perfection has to do with my girlfriend describing the exact phenomenon just as I squirted myself. I thought she was kidding, but I see how right she was.
Considering all these things, I am left to conclude that Today’s Perfect Moment was making pizza with my girlfriend. We have been having pizza together since we started dating. We’ve hit most of the major chains, and some of the smaller ones. We’ve tried a couple of Iranian pizza places. We’ve had a bunch of the frozen ones with varied success. We’ve also wondered if we would be better off making it ourselves. We finally decided to give it a try.
As this was our first foray into this, we focused on the toppings and picked up the crust at the grocery store. I wouldn’t call myself a cook, but I did my best to supervise and give my opinion as the pizza was assembled. You can see how it turned out based on the picture above.
What makes it a Perfect Moment was how into it my girlfriend got. She really enjoyed topping the pizza and it was so much fun to watch someone have some enthusiasm. There just doesn’t seem to be enough of that going around these days. The pizza turned out great and was really delicious. I suspect that visiting the chain stores will become less of a thing for us.
Will this count.
