And today we will barbecue. When I type it like that, it sounds so momentous and profound, or at least as profound as grilling meat can be. Though it really isn’t me, I have seen people take it to an art-form. And, no, I am not going to ignite the propane versus charcoal debate here–and in case you were wondering, I did not plan my word choice. It just happened.
Of course I enjoyed my meal, but if I am being completely honest, Today’s Perfect Moment really isn’t about the food or the primal urge men have to barbecue. Weird though it is, barbecuing got me out to the back deck and that is when I spotted a fallen leaf on the bench. A single leaf had fallen onto the bench. It looked so serene and interesting. That image and that image alone is Today’s Perfect Moment.
I spent the rest of my barbecuing time looking for things to photograph to submit to Shutterstock–I am always hoping that there will be some passive income in my future that will add to my retirement savings. Sadly none of my photos made it past the reviewing stage. While I wasn’t upset, I reacted by deleting all the rejected pictures. I write this because now you can understand why I do not have a picture for this post.
I am, however, undeterred.
Men do seem to have a primal urge to Barbecue, don’t they. Unfortunately this is never matched by a primal urge to scrape the damned thing (and all related implements) clean afterwards.
I like to think of barbecuing as low consequence cooking. While some people make it an art, I just want to eat.
Just for your peace of mind, I scrapped the grill before and after. I also washed all the tools.
However, I suspect I am alone in this regard.
Very rare, at any rate. 🙂
There shall be another lone leaf to photograph! 🍁
