Today’s Perfect Moment is a celebration of something quite simple.  Today’s Perfect Moment is a delicious orange that I ate slightly chilled before dinner.

Most of the people I work with are completely obsessed with apples.  I cannot tell you how many times I have come into the teacher’s room and run smack into a debate about the merits of the honey crisp versus the mackintosh.  The number might surprise you .

I happen to be a fan of bananas and mandarin oranges.  Sure, I’ll eat an apple or a mango.  I’ll dig into a pineapple or claw my way through a rambutan or two.  However,  I will always find my way back to those little oranges.

When I lived in Japan, my town was famous for them.  In the two years that I lived there,  I had a constant stream of those juicy little things provided gratis by my students. There we called them Mikan and we devoured them by the truckload.

Today’s mandarins were purchased at the Asian grocery store near my house. Given how good they were, I expect to be there often in the next few weeks.

“I’ll dig into a pineapple or claw my way through a rambutan or two. However, I will always find my way back to those little oranges.” — hahahaha love that writing.

Apples make me mad because I always seem to get the pithy ones and end up throwing them out after one bite.

I’m a pineapple, berries and stone fruit person myself. 🙂

  2. Hahahahah I’ve got to admit I’ve never had a debate about apples. That was delightful to read.
I understand your love for mandarins, I think they’re my favourite fruit. I’d love to have an mandarin tree in my backyard when I get my own house. Although, have you ever had Pakistani mangoes? They’re only in season during the summer months and wowza. Diiiiviiiine!
