The weather was, and this is not a very poetic term, yucky today. It was above zero, so not particularly cold, but thanks to the rain, it was yucky nonetheless. I wouldn’t have gone out at all, except that needs trump desires.
After a frantic shopping trip and a moment at the bank, I managed to get home and I did what everyone should do on a rainy day when the only other words you might want to use are icky and bleh, I took a moment to engage in one of my hobbies. The idea was to transport myself away from the gloom outside the windows to the warmth within.
I am a man of many hobbies, and I had my choice of all of them. The beauty of having many hobbies is that when one gets boring, you just switch to another one. When that one no long appeals, you’ve got another one. In this modern age, there is no end to hobbies both digital and non-digital.
In my case, today, I took a look at my stamp collection. I don’t spend a lot of time on this one, but every now and then it is worth a look. I am trying to amass every stamp from the year I was born. This is just shy of 8000 stamps–depending on how you look at it. I won’t go into detail about that as it isn’t important. I am also collecting stamps that feature bicycles and stamps from Antarctica.
Today’s Perfect Moment is just having those few moments to myself that weren’t deep in thought about the things that have been crowding my mind lately–teaching, armed conflicts, blog posts, writing, health, dieting, vacation preparations, relationships, exercise….and so many more.
