I woke up to:
Anticipation. It was the season opener for the Notre Dame football team. While I have more anticipation for the Leafs opening game, this is good second one as far as sports is concerned. I hadn’t done much research or reading about the team’s off season or pre-season, but since they are ranked 9th, I am guessing that this year will be more of a struggle than last year.
On a side note, my co-worker has challenged me to a duel of college football team names. Either I am going to have to do some memorizing, or I am going to have to avoid him until Christmas.
A day off. A long weekend is a beautiful thing. knowing that I didn’t have to get up, or get on that bus, or even shave made it easier to get up than the traditional post alarm, post snooze button, stumble to the shower routine does.
The Prospect of slow coffee. Nothing says a good morning like having time to drink you coffee and drink more of it than usual. While I don’t have a special blend for days like these, I do make a extra cups to linger over. This morning I had waffles to accompany my indulgence. I have to say, coffee tastes much better this way.
The Labour Day Classic. I love Canadian football more than the NFL. It’s something that speaks to the Canadian identity. Having few teams, the rivalries need to be recycled often, but the Toronto Hamilton rivalry seems to heat up every now and then. Today’s game, while not favouring my Argonauts, was full of excitement and a bit of emotionally charged shenanigans.
A generous Cat. For reasons that I will never know, the cat let me sleep until his actual feeding time. Normally he starts waking me up half hour before his official feeding time–which he knows–perhaps hoping that I won’t check the clock and feed him early. Perhaps he has some long-term strategy to deprive me of sleep so that, in my confused state, I will feed him twice. Brilliant if it works.
A lack of construction noise. The constant hum of construction machines is a key feature in the season we call Construction Season. It is pretty nice when my Monday morning doesn’t include any of it.
A guaranteed Perfect Moment. Pretty self explanatory, don’t you think.
