In case you didn’t know, where I live, Sunday was Mother’s Day. Having taught people from all over the world, I know that the second Sunday of May isn’t Mother’s Day everywhere–though I wonder why we weren’t able to agree on it.
This year’s plan was to take her to the Baseball game. She is a Blue Jays fan, and despite their struggling season, she is still supporting the team–though not re-signing Jose Bautista nearly cost them her loyalty.
This year, we thought they were giving out bobble heads of Marcus Stroman. We took my mother to another game where they were giving out bobble heads and were incredibly disappointed when we didn’t get one. Apparently they were in short supply collector items. This year, we arrived early and found out that they had enough for 15000 fans. I don’t know the official attendance figures, but I think there weren’t too many disappointed fans. The only thing was that they weren’t bobble heads, but rather they were garden gnomes. Not sure if the difference matters, but it was a difference.
The game was pretty low on action and our seats were too far away for my liking. The Blue Jays lost 5-1. The weather was cold and rainy and there was no place to enjoy a pre-game hotdog comfortably.
There were some redeeming things that qualify this event for Today’s Perfect Moment.
- It was Mother’s Day and there were activities at the park based on that.
- This is something my mother wanted to do.
- All of her children and some of her grandchildren showed up.
- We were sitting close to the five dollar beer section. ***
- We got the gnomes.
- It was good to catch up with everyone.
***why they all can’t be 5 dollar beers is beyond me.
It was a pretty good Mother’s day and I feel confident that my Mother enjoyed herself.
