Though I did catch a cold, I have managed to continue my exercise program. While I am not able to do it every day, I have managed to keep it pretty regular. I have also managed to reduce my sugar consumption. While there is still work to do in all areas, I have noticed an improvement in some areas.
- a thinner waist
- improved cardiovascular
- increased workout time
- increased number of push-ups/sit-ups
- increased plank time
- increased flexibility
- loss of several pounds
- decreased craving for pop and other junk food
While all of these things are slight, they are motivating. That alone qualifies for Today’s Perfect Moment
That being said, I wanted to use today’s post to solicit advice from everyone. It has to do with music, and working out to music.
Equipment
I tried working out with headphones on and didn’t really enjoy it. Maybe it was the sweat, maybe it was being tethered to sometime, even though that something was a small mp3 player. I switched to a Sony speaker. I bought this one because a friend has one. At their place (using their phone and Bluetooth) the sound really fills up the room easily. However, when I use it with a line-in cable and my mp3 player, the sound isn’t that good. Is it the line-in cable? Is it my recordings? I think I did them on the highest quality, but it was quite a long time ago and I really don’t remember. Is Bluetooth that much better than having it wired in? I would be grateful for any thoughts or advice. What do you think?
Music
Does anyone have a killer playlist for working out. I need something that distracts me by letting me sing to it, and is upbeat, but not so upbeat that I kill myself on the rowing machine and bike. I am into 60’s to 80’s rock mostly, throwing in some stuff from the 90’s. Just curious. What do you usually work out to?
I’m impressed! I don’t typically listen to music, although I do have some music video playlists through YouTube. My husband uses Spotify a lot, and has created several awesome playlists through there.
Uh, I’m the wrong person to ask. 😂 But given how addicted I am to my phone (or tv, or the laptop), I see exercising without entertainment as a way for me to meditate.
It sounds like we work out to the same playlist, Anthony! Though I do very much like the singer/songwriters from the 70s when I’m not trying to force myself to sweat. There is a wonderful element of storytelling to that music that you seldom find today. (Yes, I know I sound old, ha ha.)
