Late at night, when everything is quiet, is a time I used to really enjoy. I used to love late night movies or crappy TV shows that weren’t airable at any other time of day. Modern technology has erased the need to stay up until dawn to watch a Laurel and Hardy short, or episodes of Hogan’s Heroes, or The Rat Patrol. It’s a time when even the commercials are so bad that you can’t help but laugh.
The modern world sometimes has you on the go for many days so that your PVR gets backed up and you’ve neglected one of your shows on demand. Sometimes you just want a quiet moment to yourself. It sometimes has to be that the moment is late at night when everything is quiet.
Had it been summer, I could have gone out on the deck and drunk a beer. If it had been out in the country I could have looked at a sky full of stars. Instead it was almost winter and the sky was cloudy.
It was with this in mind that I took a few moments late at night to pour myself a Guinness and watch A Million Little Things. This is a show which I have fallen in love with, and therefore probably cursed to being cancelled. I don’t think it is the greatest show ever, but it is the first show in a long time that I feel connected to. Maybe it’s my age. Maybe I just need some melodrama in my life.
It should be noted that the runner up to this Perfect Moment was pizza with a cherry coke.
