Where Can I Drive Your Glasses?

IMG_20181016_222515_047On the eve of Weed Day (I’m not sure if I should even capitalize that…after tomorrow, a whole bunch of lazy people aren’t going to bother….) I am blessed with choices for Today’s Perfect Moment.

From them all, I choose this cute glasses case that I spotted on the desk in front of one of my newest students. I guessed glasses case, but still had to get up close enough to confirm that my suspicion was right.

Many of my students have cute things, but their cuteness is often that Asian character cuteness that is derived more from exaggerated characters with big eyes or unbelievable hair, rather than cute design. I don’t know how many Hello Kitty pencil cases I have seen, but I know it is a large number.  This was something completely new and unique to me.  Perhaps I should just invoke the novelty clause and be done with it. Whoever decided to make a glasses case look like a car…well Bravo.

“… after tomorrow, a whole bunch of lazy people aren’t going to bother….” HAHA! Well, I hope that won’t turn out to be the case. Get it? “Case.” 🙂

Weed Day is today in Canada? Ha, it’s in April here.

Of course we still have 4/20 here, but as of today, pot is now legal to purchase and use recreationally across the whole country. People are allowed to smoke anywhere they would be allowed to smoke cigarettes. This seems to have been my bus stop for the past year, but now its legal.

      • Hunida says:

OH no way. I didn’t know that. All over the country?? Dang we only have 9 states legalized here. I don’t think it’s right that people are smoking everywhere; that’s actually illegal– they are just breaking the law, I think. 😛 We are only allowed to smoke in private here & when we buy it, it has to go in the trunk. & hey not speaking for myself because I agree I am pretty lazy but I’ve met many stoners who are not lazy… just saying!! 😉

      • Anthony says:

First and foremost, not all stoners are lazy. I was just using bad stereotypes because I was being lazy and looking for an easy joke.
However, yes, as of today, recreational cannabis is legal in all of Canada. Each province has the responsibility of deciding who can sell it. My province will not have any legal stores until April and will only distribute through the post office. If the goal was to break the back of the black market and whoever is making money off this…..well, it probably won’t work for a while.
So, we can’t smoke indoors and many condominiums have drafted laws to that effect, but anywhere you could smoke a cigarette…but not in front of children, is legal. My students went to smoke up at the park beside my school. I am sure they ran into some high school kids who were enjoying the day despite legal restrictions on them.
I would prefer some controls on where people could smoke. I am not a fan of the smell and my bus already reeks of pot. I suspect it will only get worse.
In Ontario, we cannot drink outside unless it is a licenced patio or our own back yards. So no parks, or beaches. This is not true for pot..
Since it is supposed to be delivered and signed for through the mail, there aren’t any laws on transportation that I know of. Perhaps when they open stores in April, this will change.

      • Hunida says:

Oh my, that sounds so dang complicated. I am with you that there should be more control over where people smoke. Even if there are laws, people will break them though! I don’t think it’s right to smoke in public or drink in public but we’re allowed to drink in public here so people often smoke, too. 😛
