Despite the obvious date reference and the usual debate with my father over just exactly when it started, I didn’t want to believe that Autumn had begun.
Autumn is my favourite season (followed by Winter and then Spring), but I just wanted a few more days before I had to confront its arrival. I wanted a few more days to see if summer had a last gasp. Truly, Sunday was warmer than I had expected, but still.
While I was deluding myself by continuing to play this game called ignorance, Mother Nature showed me the error of my ways. On my way home, I was confronted by Autumn in the form of leaves changing colour.
Thinking that this is just a hint of things to come, I hope the fall colours are awesome.
I am in the Southern Hemisphere and we are still having some very chilly days, despite it being Spring. I’m not quite convinced yet. But, in three weeks I hope to be able to see some Autumn colours in Nikko. I love Autumn, too. It’s so pretty….
I hope you get your wish. Japan makes a big fuss out of the fall colours–as they should.
I love it. Look at those colours! So pretty. I understand wanting to hang onto Summer but honestly it’s been very cold here for a while now so it’s been hard to live in denial!
Out here in Western Oregon we are hanging on to summer. We are expected to hit the mid 80’s this week. We will know when fall has officially arrived when the rains stay longer than a couple of days. Until then we’ll have to call it summer/fall-ish. 🙂
