A little over a year ago, my horoscope noted that recklessness would be rewarded. Today, my horoscope noted that I have expressed a willingness to let go and enjoy the moment. It also said I should be a “wild thing” tonight. After a long day at work, a long commute, and recovery from a long weekend, I am not sure how that is possible. Nonetheless, the eerie resemblance of the horoscopes should not be doubted and cast off as mere generalizations–even though I suspect they were created in some horoscope sweatshop.
A little over a year ago, I met a woman with a simple but elegant tattoo. I wrote a good blog post about it. You can read that one here. The failing of the post was that I hadn’t actually gotten a photograph of the tattoo and as creative as my descriptions were, they were not really helpful.
At the time three of my followers (and great bloggers in their own right) Heide, Quinn, and leggypeggy (please check out their blogs if you aren’t already a subscriber) were very curious about the tattoo. I felt a little bad about disappointing them.
Luckily today, as I boarded the bus, a lovely woman said hello to me. I wasn’t sure who she was at first, but that wasn’t going to stop me from talking to her. I quickly spotted her tattoo and asked if I could take a picture of it. She agreed and we had a fantastic conversation all the way home.
The tattoo is the one above. She said that it means “existence” but that it had other “mystical” meanings that she was not exactly privy to.
As for our conversation, we discussed her rich and complex family history, tattoos (good, bad, and drunk ones), immigration, insurance, the acquisition of Allstate by the Desjardins group, education, vacations, and anything else that came up. Time passed so quickly that I didn’t get any pages of my book read. I don’t regret it for one moment.
