I didn’t go for a ride today. I planned to–I made my supplement full water bottles and everything–but the weather was bad. I have been battling a cold for quite some time and this didn’t seem like the thing to do. Besides, I needed to catch up a little on my sleep.
The good thing is that I feel much better and haven’t coughed yet today (probably just jinxed myself)
I did manage to get some errands done. My nephew is celebrating a birthday and I needed a card for the party. Never one to think a day out should be one store and a quick return home, I decided to hit a bunch of places. Maybe it is a whole bodies in motion vs bodies at rest kind of thing. Maybe I just figure once you’re out, you might as well stay out.
I hit the library for some more books to read. I didn’t have any luck, but I found a few films to watch. They even had the great TV series Dr. Blake. I don’t know if I can watch it in time I have it on loan for, but I will try.
I hit the dollar store for the card, some wrapping paper and a box of reese’s pieces–fattening yes, but delicious. I was disappointed that they didn’t have any cherry coke or raspberry coke.
I went to look around the Home Depot and spotted a woman who was building her own dining room table using some large pieces of wood. There was even some bark attached to one or two pieces. I guess she was going for the rustic look. She remarked that it was an expensive project. I wanted to tell her that they all were, but I decided to just smile and wave.
A new healthy store (Healthy Planet) has opened up in my small town and I decided to go and take a look. They weren’t very busy, but just up the road there is a well established healthy store that is above and beyond the typical store (Nature’s Emporium). I mean it is huge. It has an organic butcher, a restaurant and more products than some of the local supermarkets. It also doesn’t have that overpowering aroma that a lot of healthy stores have–maybe it is the homemade soap. Sadly, that aroma exists at the new store.
I went in looking to see what they had that I could put in my water bottles while cycling. I spent some time talking to the clerk and she was quite helpful. Most of her suggestions involved some chocolate like substances that I wasn’t sure would transfer well to water bottles.
As I was leaving, she offered me some samples. Since that hasn’t happened in a while, I was pretty happy to take some from her. I don’t know if they will be good for me, but I figure why not try them. They’re free.
I was going to write that I haven’t received any free samples in a while, but not that I think of it, it really isn’t true. Just this week, I was given some Kind Breakfast bars. They were quite tasty and I was able to muster enough willpower to spread them out over several days.
The moral of the story. Free stuff is good.
