Sunday Morning Cycling

june 10 ride

While unable to make yesterday’s early morning ride, I somehow found the energy to struggle out of bed this morning. I suppose I have my cat to thank for that.  He pestered me for breakfast for more than half an hour and I was more or less awake when the alarm rang.

I have been riding Saturdays for the past couple of weeks. In those cases they had probably fifty riders out.  Today I was the first one in the parking lot/meeting place.  We eventually got a group of 11 together–a number which I will forever associate with the inability of voice recognition software to understand people from Scotland.  Four of us formed a slow group because we knew we would have been dropped rather quickly.

Our route was not too hilly and we had some dynamite scenery and some fantastic weather. It is on days like this that I wish I had a Sony Action cam.  We took one road that had perfect canopy–lush and completely shut out the sky.

The only downside of the route were some rather strong headwinds that we never seemed to lose entirely. As you might imagine, I spent the best part of the trip off at the back, sometime struggling to keep up, sometimes using my weight and downhill gravity to help me catch up.

Luckily no one was mean about it and the group had a nice Sunday morning ride. As for me, I am glad I have been out several weeks in a row.  I hope I can keep it up all summer.  Hopefully then I will have the fitness to take another cycling trip–thinking either Chile, Sri Lanka, or Eastern Europe–probably with Exodus again.

Lol about your cat, sounds just like one of mine. 😂

He knows his breakfast time is 6:00, but he insists on waking me up at 5:30. Thankfully, this has saved my ass a couple of times when my alarm didn’t go off…..or I turned it off “ahem” accidentally.

Chile, Sri Lanka, or Eastern Europe. All sound pretty wonderful, Anthony! Can’t think of a better motivator to keep training.
