I often celebrate what some people have called “little triumphs” here on this blog. Sometimes I celebrate big ones too. Sometimes, I have lots of them and sometimes I have to grapple hard to figure it out. Sometimes I don’t write about them because I selfishly want to guard them for myself.
Today’s Perfect Moment is one of those little triumphs. I tend to value them a lot because they seem so pure…
I dashed from the car into the local fish and chips shop. I don’t want to think it has become a Friday tradition, but I am forced to admit that maybe it has. I dashed into the local fish and chips shop, hoping to get mildly damp rather than soaking wet as any lingering between the car and the door would most likely result in.
There are many fish and chips shops here in town and I have tried most of them. I happen to like this one, it is convenient and I have a small and harmless crush on the waitress/cashier. The problem is that sometimes, it is rather crowded.
Today, probably because of the horrible weather we are having (it is cold, dark and raining with bouts of even more rain) and the horrible weather they have predicted (snow with ice pellets) there was nobody in the place. There was one person, but they were paying their bill and exiting just after I ordered.
I got my order done quickly and attentively and managed to spend a few moments talking to the cashier. It certainly beats waiting in a hard backed chair with people all around coming and going….and looking at you enviously because you got the chair.
