I have to explain that I really do like winter. After autumn, it is my favourite season. It provides the chance to skiing and maybe even do some horseshoeing, However, I have to report that Today’s Perfect Moment is the rather sudden and unexpected absence of winter in my vicinity.
Starting late last week, the temperature has warmed up and made most of the snow go away. While it wasn’t shorts weather, I could have taken the mountain bike out for a spin amid the remaining salt and slush and probably have survived. I didn’t do this, but it was nice to know that I could.
Of course, unlike my somewhat perplexed students, I do expect winter back again. This is just a respite from the onslaught. I am not putting my coat, gloves, scarf, boots or toque away.
What’s a toque? You’re in Canada, right?
The toque is the typical Canadian winter hat…. sometimes with a pompom. I think they call it a beanie in the US. We pronounce it /tuuk/ .
👍 yeah winter hat or cap, maybe… Not sure what the pom pom is about
I have just edited the post to include an iconic Canadian Toque, replete with pompom. Go and check it out.
