It hadn’t been a particularly amazing day. My commute to and from work was spoiled by some smelly passengers and loud cell phone users. At work, the question as to why I have an instagram account, but no pictures arose, but was confounded by the fact that despite having no pictures, I still have two followers. The teaching portion of work went well, but student energy levels were down.
I pretty much guessed that Today’s Perfect Moment was going to be the beer and pizza that I was planning on having for dinner. (Just for the record, I had the pizza, but decided not to drink the beer and had water and orange juice instead.) I had no idea that fate was going to intervene and create a whole new Perfect Moment for today.
John, who is blogger and a stamp collector, sent me some stamps that feature cycling from Ireland. He has been reading my blogs, and noted on my hobby blog that I recently attended a stamp show and picked up some bicycling stamps, despite trying my best not to become involved in the hobby. However, since I seem to have started a topical collection (stamps featuring cycling and bicycles) he decided to send me some beautiful examples to increase my collection. I was quite happy to see the envelope in the mail. He also took time to explain a little about the stamps and point me in the direction of some others I could collect. I think all of this was very kind of him and certainly makes it Today’s Perfect Moment.
I have been following his blog as well. He writes about stamp collecting, postcard collecting, and traveling in Ireland. His view on collecting is non elitist and is both charming and calming. Please check out his blog here, as I would not like his kindness to go unnoticed.
