Today’s Perfect Moment was an easy one. Please take a moment to read this very simple tale.
Today, over plenty of drinks and bawdy talk spurred by a strange internet quiz, we celebrated a new Canadian. When someone mused that we had enough, they were denounced quickly.
“No! We don’t have enough! We need more! There aren’t enough of us!“
It doesn’t matter that my friend Marissa is not a refugee. She is not fleeing persecution or discrimination based on her sex, her sexual orientation, religious beliefs or ethnicity. She is not even fleeing the Donald–having had the foresight to do this long in advance.
Welcome to Canada seems like an easy thing to say. You’ve been here long enough that such a sentence is not really apropos. However, we’re all glad you’ve decided to become one of us.
Now, we’ve just got to find you a lumber jacket, some Kodiak boots, a hockey jersey and another Tim Horton donut.
Sounds like a win-win to me! I keep waiting for our Hollywood elite, those who promised to leave, to head north too. Again, win-win win-win….. man, that’s a lot of winning!
