A Fantastic Choice

It isn’t often that I think those in power make the right choice. Most often, I just have to shake my head and wonder (cancelling the Eglinton subway after the tunnel was already dug and now carving it out again for a less ambitious project comes to mind) but today’s announcement that Viola Desmond would grace the new Canadian ten dollar bill seems quite fitting.  As for having a woman on the front of the bill, that  is just long overdue.

There are quite a few women who deserved such an honour from scientists to suffragettes, writers to politicians.  Hopefully more of them will get their due.

About Anthony

I am: equal parts rebel, romantic and shockingly average Joe. a writer trapped inside of an ESL teacher's body. an introverted attention seeker. a teacher who hopes one day to be called "Captain, my Captain." an intellectual who can do some very dumb things. a person whose Japan experience, despite being so long ago, still exerts a strong influence upon him. a lover of books, music, beer, hockey and Pizza.
