No Stranger to a Good Deal

Today’s perfect moment is all about getting a deal.

In my life, I have gotten some good deals. I bought a real leather baseball glove for my nephew for a little over 2 dollars.  I got my tennis raquet for 50% off the list price.  I found some tasty shortbread and chocolate cookies for a dollar a bag (and from an actual supermarket, not the dollar store).  I once went to an Izakaya (a kind of Japanese pub) and partook of the all you can drink special for about 4 dollars.  Heck, once I even went to an all you can eat pizza restaurant–and as I tell my students, I like pizza, but more importantly, pizza loves me–and the bill came out to around $5.

So, while I am no stranger to bargains, I am not a super coupon cutter. I don’t even price match as often as I should.  I don’t have a coupon app on my phone.  Although I do check the local flyers, I don’t always remember what is on sale or what I went to the store to buy–yes, I know, a shopping list would rectify that problem.

Nonetheless, today’s bargain was for some outdoor lights for my mother’s house. We found ones that were originally fifty bucks but on sale for less than 18.  The funny thing about this was that they store didn’t want to price match the other stores in the chain.  I didn’t yell, or demand anything, and the clerk seemed resolute.  However, for reasons I am unsure of to this very moment, she quickly relented and gave us the sale price.

Sounds like a perfect bargain is the source of the Perfect Moment.

  2. I love a great deal. Especially when it’s something quality that normally costs more.
