Finding the day’s Perfect Moment is sometimes hard. I couldn’t find one on Friday because my hellish commute home made me unwilling to search for it. It likely existed, but I was in no mood to ponder it. Saturday, while not hellish, didn’t yield any great moments and then I started watching YouTube …. and well, you know how that ends.
Finding the Perfect Moment today, on the other hand, requires very little in the way of reflection.
Today, just a few kilometres from my house, I found the Nokiidaa Bike trail. This is a fifteen kilometre (or more perhaps…geography of this, or any, sort is really not my thing) bike trail that winds alongside rivers, lakes and parks. It also manages to skirt under major roadways and pass in and out of trees. I spent a couple of hours riding today and thought I would share my pictures. It truly was beautiful.
While riding it, I remember a poster I had on my wall in University. (I had many things on my wall, but there were quite a few things related to bicycles) It read something like “My gym is anywhere I want it to be.” For a guy who doesn’t really like the gym, this is painfully true. I loved being outside and I loved being on my bike. I would admit that the trail is not that challenging, and due to its popularity, I couldn’t race flat out on many sections. However, it had some nice uphill parts that got my heart pumping. It was also nice to get some exercise, any exercise.
I am so pumped about it, that I hope I can get out tomorrow before the sun goes down.
Anthony it’s gorgeous! So pretty. I don’t get out on my bike often enough but when I do and I hit the parks and gardens here, it feels like I’m doing something good for my soul.
